Hircine (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)

First Appearance: ?

Played By: Daniel Riordan

Hircine is the Daedric "Lord of the Hunt" and is both the creator and ruler of the "Hunting Ground," his own realm within Oblivion. He had many titles including; "The Spirit of the Hunt", "The Huntsman of Princes" and the "Father of Man-beasts" and is one of the more socially acceptable Daedra to worship, like Azura being seen as not completely evil.

He is the creator and patron of therianthropic diseases/ illnesses such as Lyncathropy. His presence was discovered later than the other Daedra and although had a summoning day on the 5th Mid Year, the ritual was very rarely done. He sees the God of War, Ebonam as an enemy.

He is worshiped by the Glenmoril Wyrd Witch Coven, who arranged a deal with the former Harbinger of the Companions- Terrfyg that Hircine will grant them great power if they agree to spend their afterlife in the "Hunting Ground," resulting in the main Circle of the Companions being Werewolves.

"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim"

Hircine was furious about the theft of his Ring at the hands of the werewolf Sinding, casting a curse upon the artifact that would take away the control of Sinding's ability to transform whenever he wanted and force him to do it at random times, which resulted in the death of the Caerellia's daughter when Sinding became a werewolf during his hunt for the White Stag. The stag was said to have been a challenge for hunters set up by Hircine to show who was worthy of communing with him. Sinding had hoped- before his arrest for killing the girl- that he could return the ring and beg the Daedra's forgiveness.

The Dragonborn offers to except the cursed Ring and take it to Hircine, killing the creature and ask him to remove the curse.

After killing the White Stag that was roaming around the Falkreath hold, the Dragonborn is communed by the "Aspect of Hircine", who takes the astral form of the dead animal and congratulates the Dragonborn for what he saw to be a good hunt.

Azura (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)

First Appearance: ?

Played By: Lynda Carter

Azura is the Daedric Prince (although depicted as female) and the ruler of the Moonshadow (her own realm in Oblivion). She has many forms of address throughout legend and across races such as; "The Queen of Dusk and Dawn", "The Queen of the Night Sky", "The Anticipation of Sotha Sil" and "The Mother of Roses" and although seen as a Daedric "Lord"- she is not perceived by "mortals" to being completely evil. Yet her followers do see that her methods, claiming her to be "cruel but wise."

She has an animosity against Nocturnal and Ebonarm (the former a Daedra Lord the latter the God of War), whom see saw as her enemies.

She is worshiped by the Dunmer (Dark Elves) of Morrowind, but is seen by other Dunmer and other mortals for being in alliances with Daedric Lord Molag Bal, who they consider to be one of the four evil Lords (Four corners of the House of Troubles). She has a festival on the 21st First Seed called Hogithum- where her worshipers have been known to try and summon her to the mortal world.

"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim"

After retrieving the broken Azura's Star from Ilinalta's Deep and bringing it back to Azura's Shrine, Aranea Ienith communes with the Daedric Queen of Dawn and Dusk, telling the “Mother of Roses” that her Dragonborn “champion” has returned her Star to her . Ienith tells the Dragonborn to put their hands on Azura's alter and let her speak to him personally.

Greeting the Dragonborn, she tells them that they have “followed my guidance through the veils of Twilight and rescued my star from Malyn Varen.” However she reveals that the star has been corrupted by Varen and severed her connection temporarily from her own artifact. When the Dragonborn questions if their was a way to “cleanse the star,” Azura tells them that there isn't as Malyn's soul is still trapped within the star and that it needed to be banished before she can do anything else- for the process would take too long if it was left naturally (longer than the Dragonborn would be able to live). However she tells the Draonborn that she can use her powers to send them within the Star to be able to get rid of the soul. Telling her that they are ready, she comments that they must have faith and that she will be watching over them.

After Malyn is killed within the Star, Azura proclaims that now the star is “free to purify itself” and that the Dragonborn should not worry as they will be returned “before you are cleansed.”

Back at the Shrine, Azura reveals that Malyn has now been “consigned to Oblivion” and that the Star has been restored, congratulating the Dragonborn for their help in this task. She tells them that as she has “destined” they are free to use the star as the Dragonborn sees fit. After being thanked, she tells them to remember that she “will be guarding over the threads of your fate in the Twilight” giving the artifact willingly to the Dragonborn.
