First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Two Episode Six: "Rise of the Cybermen" Played By: Andrew Hayden-Smith A young member of the Preachers born on a Parallel Earth, Jake Simmonds joined the resistance team to fight Cybus Industries after discovering the true intentions of the corporation. (At some point prior to the Doctor's arrival to the Parallel Earth he began a relationship with the Preachers leader, Ricky Smith). "Rise of the Cybermen" Jake watched from behind a burning barrel as a "International Electricomtics" van arrives in a tip and Mr. Crane tells several homeless people that it is full of free food and drink. When the last one makes his way to the van, he comes out from his hiding place and warns him not to go as they "are lying." However the homeless man comments that "it is easy for you to say" and questions when he last starved. He ignores his comment and tells him that these people are responsible for the "disappearance of people on the streets" for several months and that they are a going to take him away. When the homeless man asks him what for, Jake replies that they were going to experiment on him. However the homeless guy says that he is too hungry and goes off in the direction of the van. He starts filming Crane and the van as the men scream from inside and the doors close after them.
While Micky visits the Parallel version of his grandmother Rita-Anne, Jake grabs him and throws him into the back of the Preacher's van mistaking him for Ricky. He questions why "he" had gone to see her when he had told them not to keep contact with closest family and friends for their own safety. Confused, Micky pretends to be Ricky saying he was testing them and Jake proudly says that he filmed Cybus as they "went round Blackfriars gathering up the homeless like the child catcher." He goes on to say that four dozen people had gone missing now and Mrs. Moore finishes with the fact that they were all taken by lorries hired by "International Electricomatics." Both Jake and Mrs. Moore seem surprised that "Ricky" isn't aware that Cybus Industries were responsible for it setting up as a fake company. Upon arrival at the Preacher's base, Jake spots that someone is inside and has the light on and warns Mrs. Moore. All three cross into the building and Jake enters the room with the light on, pointing it at the real Ricky who is just as surprised to find his (lover) pointing a gun at him as his (lover)is to discover that there is two of him and has one standing in front of him and one behind him. Both Jake and Mrs. Moore turn their weapons on Mickey. Jake scans Mickey's body while Mrs. Moore analysis the data and confirms that he is "clean" and has "no bugs." Ricky is shocked and questions how it was possible to get an exact copy of himself. When Ricky suggests that Mickey could be his brother, Jake tells him to "be fair" and wonders "what else it could be." Ricky concludes that they are identical and tells them that there is something else is happening as well as at Cybus. Jake gives a small smile when Mickey questions if the Preachers were going to take down John Lumic "from your kitchen." After receiving word from "Gemini", Jake and the other Preachers pack up and follow the number of "International Electromatics" vans in their own and set up weapons in the back while Ricky drives. Ricky and Jake survey the trucks as they reach the Tyler Household and begin unloading the vans, He is horrified to see the Cybermen disembark and march forward. Upon the Cybermen's attack on the party and the Doctor's escape from the mansion- with Pete Tyler and Rose- Jake and Ricky try and shoot the Cybermen with AK-47's and are surrounded when the bullets do nothing to slow them down or harm them. The Doctor tells them to stop shooting, but Jake ignores this and fires a few more rounds before the Doctor knocks the weapon down and orders them all to "surrender." He looks horrified as the Cybermen declares their plans to upgrade all of humanity. "The Age of Steel" As the Cybermen advance, the Doctor uses the Tardis power cell to disintegrate them. Slightly taken aback he begins to run before Mrs. Moore arrives in the van and orders them all inside- getting in the front with Ricky. Jake argues the fact that they don't have weapons by angrily declaring that they are "good enough for me like him", referring to Pete Tyler and blaming him for the death of the President and the rest of "the government." Upon the mention of "Gemini" and confirmation of the channel used to contact the Preachers, Jake looks to Ricky totally confused. Jake smiles when Ricky tells them the title of London's most wanted was for "parking tickets", enjoying his attempt to justify it by wanting to tear the system apart. He is shocked when Lumic uses the Ear Pods to control the whole of London to head towards Battersea Power Station, where he has made the Cyberman's main Cyber Conversion Factory for the city. Jake and Ricky go on ahead and spot the Cybermen leading more people away. When a Cyberman patrol arrives down the far end of the street, Ricky orders Jake to act a distraction to allow the others to escape and meet up after at "Bridge Street." Reaching the rendezvous, Jake reports that he has seen more people all heading for and entering the factory and that there are "hundreds of Cybermen all down the Thames." He gets excited by arrival by one of the Smith twins, but suddenly changes to panic as he questions which "one are you." Upon learning of his (lovers)death, he turns his back on Mickey telling him to "shut it" when he tried to explain what happened and declared that he was "nothing." Seeing his reaction, the Doctor tells him that he can morn Ricky later but they need to save London first. Planning what to do next on the shore opposite the Power Plant, Jake stands away from the main group watching them. When Pete suggests using the front door, he argues that they "can't just go strolling up" and seems fascinated by Mrs. Moore's fake ear pods (originally real with the signal removed). The Doctor pulls him aside and tasks him to destroying the transmitter for the ear pods built into Lumic's zeppelin, which Jake comments that he should "consider it done" and smiles for the first time since Ricky's death. When Mickey says he is going with Jake to help, the latter aggressively calls him an "idiot" and claims he doesn't need his help. Standing up for himself, Mickey tells him that he "only wants to help" and Jake storms off with a dismissive "whatever." Climbing to the roof, he is pretty happy to see the zeppelin is guarded. He motions for Mickey to follow and tells them that they can "take them." When Mickey tells him not to kill them, he angrily snaps "who put you in charge." Listening to his response about killing would put him on the same level as a Cybermen, Jake offers to use Mrs. Moore's version of smelling salts and gives them a countdown window to complete the task. Taking them out, he grins at the idea of more guards and jokingly says that they should "go get them," boarding the airship. Aboard the ship, the two squabble over finding the "transmitter controls", with Jake sarcastically suggesting that they have a big sign in "red letters" signposting them. Reaching the front of the airship, Jake turns a gun on an offline Cyberman mistaking it for an active one which made Mickey jump. He is very uneasy with the declaration that it was an empty suit, but states that they needed to continue and find the "transmitter." Finding it in a protected case, Jake sarcastically tells Mickey that he left his "oxy-acetylene" and suggests that they could crash the zeppelin by setting it to auto-pilot and escaping before it could be destroyed. Trying to hack into the control system on the main computer, Mickey tells Jake to let him have a go and watches as he begins working. He comments that Mickey was doing a decent job, but is suddenly distracted by the Cyberman who has been reactivated. He complains that Mickey had diagnosed it as being dead and is about to shoot at it until Mickey tells him not to- causing the Cyberman to destroy both itself and the ear pod transmitter. They jump up and down and excitedly hug each other. Hacking into "Cybercontrol", Jake asks in both shock and disgust what the Cybercontroller was and addresses him as a "thing." He watches as Mickey uses the Doctor's words to get past all the codes and locate the cancellation code for the emotional inhibitors, celebrating as the Doctor uses it and Rose's phone to trigger a city wide shut down that drove the Cybermen insane. He tries to pilot the zeppelin and get it away from the power station as it goes up in flames, telling Mickey that the whole "balloon" will go up in flames as well. However Mickey persuades him to stop and help the Doctor and the others, getting into a slight shoving match until Jake eventually backed down and let him have control. He orders him to hold his mobile close to his ear and allow Mickey to call Rose to get them to escape via the roof. Jake warns him not to go any lower as he would crush them, but finds it hard not to enjoy the mission. After the defeat of the Cybercontroller, Jake joins Mickey in returning the Doctor's suit, who reveals Mrs. Moore's true name as Angela Price and asks that she find her husband and children and tell them that she died a hero. He agrees to and stands by as Mickey says goodbye to both Rose and the Doctor, choosing to stay on the Parallel Earth. He is amazed and astounded by the Tardias as it disappears. Getting back in the van, Mickey comments that he knows it will be difficult for Jake with his face being identical to Ricky's he has no intention of replacing him. (Jake comments that he could never do that and that he would never "have another boyfriend like him." Mickey expresses his surprise and jokes that he is "defiantly not replacing him")but states that they will fight in his name and the name of Mrs. Moore, which makes Jake smile. Mickey wonders whether there is a cyberfactory in Paris, stating that they will "go liberate Paris." Jake states his amusement at the prospect that it would be "you and me in a van." Mickey states that their was "nothing wrong with a van. I once saved the Universe with a big yellow truck." "Doomsday" Using specially developed teleportation devices capable of crossing dimensions, Jake and a team of soldiers from the Parallel World crossed into Earth, arriving on the top floor of the Torchwood One building in Canary Warth. He orders his troops not to move and fire at the Cybermen, who have little time to react before they are destroyed. He tells the Doctor it was "good to see him again" removing his gas mask and surprising the latter. He orders the soldiers to lock down the room and puts a fellow officer, Chrissie to monitor all communications and warns them about the constant upgrade of Cyberleader is the previous is killed. The Doctor confronts him about the fact it was not possible to travel between parallel universes, but Jake explains that Torchwood on their world had developed the technology they were currently using and asks if he wanted to see and presses his own sending them back to his world's version of Torchwood One. During Pete Tyler's explanation of the past three years, Jake comments that people objected to Cybermen being sealed within the factories as many still saw them as living beings and that they should be helped, which had given the Cybermen time to escape and cross the void into Earth. Jake follows him across the room, acting as an unfortunate dummy for the Doctor's constant tapping of the teleport disc and explaining how the power caused by this transportation is causing the world to "boil." He listens as the Doctor questions if Pete really thought he could "seal of the breach, stop th Cybermen and defeat the Dalaks" and is teleported back with the other two as the Doctor agrees he will do it. Upon their return, Jake orders his men to guard the door while the Doctor called Jackie, After hanging up, the Doctor takes Jake's gun and alters it in order that it can work on "poly-carbide", answering Jake's question of what "poly-carbide" was the fact it was Dalek-skin. Jake leads an attack with several officers and Cybermen (who they have somehow reprogrammed) in a fight against the Dalek's in the Sphere Room, manaing to rescue Mickey and Rose before getting out alive. As the door closes, the Doctor orders him to "protect the stairwell." Surviving and fighting his way to the top floor, Jake watches as the Genesis Ark releases millions of Daleks over the streets of London. He listens to the Doctor as he reveals his plan to seal the breach via pulling the Daleks and Cybermen to a Hell-like place. Taking it to be a literal Hell, Mickey makes a side note to Jake about always telling him that the Doctor was "good." He is transported away when the Doctor puts a disc on Rose, but watches as she transports back, forced to watch the backlash between Jackie and Pete when Rose makes her way back to the original Earth.
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series One Episode Four: "Aliens of London" Played By: Penelope Wilton Formally a back bench British Politician for the Constituency of Flydale North, Harriet Jones later became Prime Minister after she helped the Doctor and Rose uncover and stop a Slitheen plot within Downing Street. Her term in office was ended by the Doctor's strategic whispering of the six words- "don't you think she looks tired"- after she had ordered the Torchwood Institute to shoot down the Sycorax spaceship as it was leaving on Christmas Day. Since then she continued with her goal in saving the world from the shadows, developing technology such as the Subwave Network which was created by the Mr. Copper Foundation. "The Stolen Earth" After deciding that the time was right and the Earth looked like it had no hope left, Harriet Jones contacted Torchwood, Sarah Jane Smith (via Mr. Smith), Rose Tyler- although unable to hear her without webcam at the Noble Household- and Martha Jones at her mother's house. She calls out to those she contacted, asking if anyone could hear her as the signal began transmitting. She continues trying to reach out calling this message "the utmost importance", which Captain Jack ignores as just being someone else from the "world crying out". However she berates him and orders him to "stand to attention." Getting his attention, he asks who was speaking and the introduces herself with the fact that she was "former Prime Minister" and flashes her passport- although he tells her he "knows who you are." Rose tries to speak to Harriet, but is unable to and watches as Sarah Jane replies. Harriet uses the sub-wave to allow those connected so far to contact each other. She comments that the "fourth contact seems to be having trouble getting through" boosting the signal so that Martha joins the conversation (again introducing herself) and said it seemed an appropriate time, introducing Sarah Jane to the Torchwood team. She has to tell Jack to stop flirting as he comments that Sarah Jane is "looking good." She then goes onto introduce Martha Jones to Sarah Jane, before going on to explain that due to the "sentient software" being programmed to seek out anyone who had worked with the Doctor Subwave network she was able to locate them all. She goes on reassure Martha that the Subwave was completely hidden from the Dalek's radar and that she had developed it with the aid of the Copper Foundation. Harriet warns Martha not to use the Osterhagen Key when Jack asks about it and orders them to forget about it, claiming that "all we need is the Doctor." Sarah Jane questions this and asks whether it was the Doctor who had "deposed her". Harriet replies sadly that "he did" and goes on to say that although doubting herself about the desission she had made on Christmas at first. However she justifies her reasoning as the Doctor couldn't be there to save the world every time there was an invasion. When Martha tells her that she failed to get through to the Doctor on her own, Harriet concludes this is why they all need to work together and act as "the Doctor's secret army." During the plan to use the rift to call the Doctor's number- via Mr. Smith's hacking of the phone network- Ianto Jones comments that the transmitting signal would become open and visable to the Dalek fleet. Harriet admits that she was aware of this fact and that she also knew the Dalek's would track her down and kill her. She states that "my life doesn't matter. Not if it saves the Earth." She thanks Jack for his solute, but tells them that "is enough with words" and that they they start as "there are people dying on the streets." Wilfred Mott commends her and voices that he "voted for her" to be Prime Minister, although Sylivia Noble tells him that he never did. She opens the Subwave to "maximum" allowing the signal to mask the transmission to contact the Doctor, which attracts the attention of a Dalek Saucer. The Daleks use their exterminators to smash the window, whilst she transfers the Subwave network to the Torchwood facility in Cardiff, putting Jack in charge and requesting that he tell the Doctor that "he chose his companions well." She states that it "had been an honor", before moving into the center of the room as three Dalek's enter her house via the blown out window. She introduces herself to them and retorts that although they knew who she was, they "knew nothing of any human. And that will be your downfall." She exhales and stands taller as the Dalek sentences her to death, dying along with her screen on the collected subwave monitor. "Journey's End" During Davros' goading of the Doctor- while he was being held in the vault- he boasts that he had "already seen them (The Doctor's allies) sacrificed today for their beloved Doctor" and addresses Harriet Jones as "the Earth Woman who fell opening the Subwave Network." The Doctor had been unaware of her death or the fact that she had been involved in bringing him to Earth until Rose tells him and he remembers her along with all the others he had lost over his travels.
First Mentioned: Doctor Who Series One Episode Nine: "The Empty Child" First Appearance: Doctor Who Series One Episode Ten: "The Doctor Dances" Played By: Albert Valentine Born in London in the year of 1937 to a young woman called Nancy, Jamie never knew that she was his mother, who out of shame for giving birth to him as a teenager told him that she was his sister. Scared of the bombs and being on his own, Jamie followed Nancy one evening of the London Blitz during 1941 and was crushed by the Chula Ambulance (that had been thrown away by Captain Jack Harkness). His injuries included a "massive head trauma in his left side, a partial collapse in the chest cavity and a scar on the back of his right hand". Being the Blitz Jamie wore his gas mask for fear of a gas attack. He had been resurrected by nanogenes, who took him to be a model example of a human and created a virus that would infect humans to make them look like he did. The last thing he wished for before his death was his mother. He was later cured by Nancy and the nanogenes, which recognised her parental DNA and restored his body to what it had been before he had been "killed". "The Doctor Dances"
When the nanogenes disperse from both Nancy and "The Empty Child", the Doctor runs over to him and expresses his desire to "give me a day like this". He reaches forward and laughs as he finds he can detach the gas mask from Jamie's face to reveal that he is alive and well. The Doctor picks him up and tells him that he will love the future in "twenty years" for the "pop music". Nancy asked what happened and the Doctor tells her that the DNA was registered and identified as having a similar match, joking that "mother knows best" and giving Jamie to his mother, who cries and hugs him tightly to her. Jamie has his back to the falling bomb and is oblivious to the space ship flying above them and catching the bomb whilst it is hurtling towards them. Later the Doctor comments to Rose in the Tardis that Nancy and Jamie would go to Doctor Constantine for "help."
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series One Episode Ten: "The Doctor Dances" Played By: Vilma Hollingbery Living during the 1941 London Blitz, Mrs. Harcourt was an elderly woman who had at some point lost her leg. She was transferred to the Albion Hospital under the care of Doctor Constantine, where she had come into contact with an infected individual and became one of the gas mask zombies. The transformation also managed to grow her leg back due to the nanogenes that were part of the virus. She was cured at the abandoned rail way line along with the other zombies, by the Doctor and nanogenes that understood what humans were supposed to look like (unlike the ones that were infecting people). "The Doctor Dances" After the Doctor compliments Doctor Constantine for his dedication to his patience and explains that "whatever was wrong with them in the past, you will probably gonna find they are cured", Mrs. Harcourt hobbles over to him and addresses him warmly. Constantine comments that she is looking much better. Mrs. Harcourt expresses her surprise to find that her "leg's grown back" since she had only gone to the hospital with "one leg". He asks her if she had "possibly miscounted" due to all the confusion of the war. She watches the Doctor as he prepares the Chula Ambulance for self destruction and clears the area with all the other cured victims.

Cassandra (Younger): (Wags her finger at the closest guy) But don't quote me on that. Cassandra (Younger)- O.S: Oh you naughty people! Cassandra (Younger): A Bientot! She grandly begins to walk away, flourishing her hand. Chip: Excuse me, the Lady Cassandra? Cassandra (Younger): I'm sorry, I don't need anything right now, I'm fine, thank you. Chip: (As Cassandra slowly turns) No, I just wanted to say. You look beautiful. Cassandra (Younger): (He smiles. Pause, thinking how to react) Well, that's very kind, you strange little thing. (Looks him up and down) Thank you very much. Chip: (Slightly taken aback, but ignores "her" own judgement) I mean it. (Steps closer to her) You look... (almost whisper) so beautiful. Her face changes, looking as though she was terribly moved by this (as though it was a long time since anyone had truly complimented her). Cassandra (Younger): (Voice is softer) Thank you. Chip exhales. His eyes close. He falls forwards as though he has lost all ability to stand. Cassandra (Younger): Oh, my Lord! (She goes down to her knees, catching him before he hits the floor) Are you alright? What is it, what's wrong? (To a guest that moves around her with a drink still in hand) Someone get some help. Call a medic or something (Other guests disperse) quickly! Female Guest- O.S: Who is he?
Cassandra (Younger): (Pulls back his hood slightly to take his pulse, revealing a few of the tattoos) I don't know, he just came up to me. Don't even know his name. He just collapsed. I think he's dying. (More people are turning their backs and walking away) Someone do something. I've got you, sweetheart (begins to cradle him, rocking him gently on her knee). It's all right. The Doctor and Rose watch on silently. Cassandra (Younger)- O.S: There you are. There you are. I've got you. Cassandra (Younger): (Almost completely alone in the middle of the room, keeping Chip company. Everyone else has ever turned their back or gone) It'll be alright. There, there. You poor little thing. The Doctor nudges Rose and they slowly walk away, Rose looks back before disappearing behind the curtain. The Doctor then looks back, his glance long.

He politely greets the Doctor before accepting "his usual" drink from Davenport, with a flirtatious comment of it being to his liking. Donna quietly asks the Doctor why he is a Cubishley when is mother is an Eddison, which he reveals that due to the Eddison title descending from her Roger would become a Lord. After hearing how the Reverend Arnold Golightly had apprehended two youths breaking into the church, Roger comments that "some of these young boys deserve a decent thrashing." He has to remind Davenport with a "subtle" clearance of his throat they are being watched when the latter agrees with his point and shows slightly more obvious signs of their relationship. Although nobody picks up (or pretends not to), both the Doctor and Donna picked up the fact that the two were lovers . Donna whispers that it was "typical. All the decent men on the other bus." Roger is among the guests who welcome Agatha Christie to the party and asks her why she chose a Belgian detective for her novels, whom replies jokingly that "Belgians make such lovely buns." He isn't sure how to take the comment at first but he laughs and comments about how Professor Peach would love to meet her and wonders where he could have gotten to. After hearing of the Professor's murder, Roger pushed his father to the library and is visibly shocked by the dead body on the floor. He follows the Doctor's instructions and goes to sit in the sitting room to wait for his investigative interview. During his interview, Roger lies about what he had been doing at quater past four that afternoon (the time of death for the Professor), telling the Doctor that he had been doing a "constitutional in the fields behind the house" and had just walked. When questioned if he was alone, he answers in a very flustered manner that he had been alone and repeats it several time, reiterating the point with the statement of "I wandered lonely as the proverbial cloud." In reality he had met with Davenport and the two walked together holding hands in the woods. After chasing the Vespiform through the house, the Doctor demands that it shows itself when he reaches a long corridor with all the guest rooms. Among the confused people who leave their rooms were Roger and Davenport, who emerged from the same room with Davenport looking a lot untidier than he had been earlier that day. Returning to the sitting room, he comforts his mother who is grieving over the loss of her "most faithful companion" and one of the most senior members in the household staff. When the Doctor asks if Chandrakala's final words meant anything to Lady Eddison- "the poor little child"- Hugh bluntly tells him that their were no children in "this house for years. Highly unlikely that there will be any" looking directly and disapprovingly at Roger as he said this (suggesting that he knew of his son's relationship and orientation). When Agatha tells them that she "had nothing" on what was going on, the gathered group all look to the Doctor for answers about what was happening. Roger sat next to Donna at the dinner later that evening, looking slightly unnerved whilst eating his soup and hearing that the Doctor had been poisoned. His nervousness turns to cinfusion where the Doctor explains that the soup had been spiked with pepper and reveals that it was to use the piperine ("traditionally used as an insecticide") to reveal the Vespiform. Roger looks terrified when the lightning knocks out the power in the room and the wind snuffs out the candels. In the confusion the Vesperform kills him with a knife in the back and he is left with his face lying in his soup.
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Four Episode Four: "Planet of the Ood" Played By: Ayesha Dharker Head of marketing and Intergalactic Relations for Ood Operations, Solana Mercurio is in charge of pitching to clients interested in purchasing the Ood as well as tours of the facility. She was killed by the Ood in the year 4126 after the outbreak of red-eye.
"Planet of the Ood" Contacting Mr. Bartle (managing Director) of the company on his request, Solana is given instructions to "pitch like never before" to make up for the fact that the price of Ood had been reduced to fifty credits. Solana and the new head of the Ood Management-Dr. Ryder- personally met with Chief Executive Klineman Halpen after the latter arrived to deal with the latest death in the companies personnel. Ryder states that Solana has the information of deaths that had recently happened in the company after Halpen disregards Ryder's attempted small talk and introduction and demands to know what had been happening in his absence. Halpen comments that being in "P.R" she was exactly what he needed and tells her to not have of the information released to anyone outside the Ood Operations compound. She looks slightly offended by his belittling of her job title and barging past with the persistence to find out "how many were dead?" Following him into the office, she explains that "in the last financial quarter, we've had three deaths in the complex." Each of the deaths had apparently been from "industrial accidents" of "heart attacks," until footage of Bartle's death had been recovered showing the cause of death to match those of the others. After hearing Halpen and Ryder's suspicions of the Ood catching red-eye, Solana questions what the problem was and listens to Ryder's description of the "infection." When Halpen orders Ood Sigma to pour him a drink, Solana reminds him of his own rules about having "no alcohol allowed on base." He remarks coldly that it was "hair tonic if you must know" and that it was being used to combat his hair loss from five years ago as resulted in "stress." Solana greets the potential buyers and representatives of various organisations to the Ood Sphere, making a joke about the weather. As the Ood flanking her hands out information packs, she explains that the packs contained "3-D tickets, a map of the complex and vouchers" and that they had probably all "spoken on the Vid-Phone." Just as she tells them to all follow her, the Doctor and Donna arrive and uses the Psychic Paper to identify them as representatives of "The Noble Corporation, P.L.C Limited, Intergalactic." She apologises and wonders whether their names had "fallen from my list. It won't happen again." She asks them to follow- mistaking them both for a couple and is slightly bemused by the reaction that this had caused from the two denying it, handing them the packs personally. She calls to the others to come with her as it is warmer inside the "executive sweets." She quickly makes up the excuse that the alarm that had just been set of by Commander Kess to signal an escaped rabid Ood as being "a siren for the end of work shift." During her pitch, Solana enthusiastically pitches the Ood as being "happy to serve" and boasts that; they live in "facilities of the highest standard," the treatment of Ood as "trusted friends," keeping the Ood "safe and educated" and that they "make them better," proposing that "the Ood are a reflection of us" and stating that "if your Ood is happy, then you'll be happy too." Moving on to new Ood Operations innovations, Solana showcases the "variety package" for the Ood translation ball with the three additional voices; standard, "something for the gentleman" and the "Homer Simpson"- testing each out to the amusement of the representatives and adding in the fact that this package was on sale for five additional credits. She invites them to have more food and drink. Just as an Ood begins revealing the existence of "the circle" to the Doctor and Donna (who only had heard about it once when Delta-Fifty died), Solana orders the Ood to return to "hospitality stations." After another alarm was set of by Kess, Solana reassures the reps that it was "nothing to worry about" and it was "just a fire drill," claiming that the system was tested at that time daily. She excuses herself and hurries to Ood Cargo, where she berates Kess for trying to take down the Doctor with a crane as Halpen wanted both the Doctor and Donna alive. Solana witnesses a fight between the Ood Operations security forces, fleeing with the Doctor and Donna. They stop when they are far away from the cargo, where Donna states her shock that people on Earth don't know what was happening on the Ood Sphere, However she tells Donna not "to be stupid" and that they do know, yet nobody asks questions which she coints as being the "same thing." The Doctor questions her to know how the Ood are processed to become the "products," but she states that she had no knowledge of what Dr. Ryder did as "it was his territory." Solana begrudgingly reveals Ryder's lab to being "beyond the red section" of the map. The Doctor asks her to come with her and tells her that she can help him, doubting that she really approves of how the company operates. Considering his offer for a moment she calls out to the guards, giving away their location. She communicates with Halpen with her wrist device and informs him of the Doctor heading to the Ood Conversion center. Joining Halpen and Ryder at the locked Conversion door, she is ordered to return to the reps and stop them from discovering the mass extermination of Ood, whilst also seperating them from any Ood in the sweet for fear of a red eye outbreak. He yells at her to "hurry up" and she complies to his demand. Solana tries to persuade the reps to move into the education room, but is questioned by a drunk rep who claims that they are in "a free bar." Choosing a different tact, she asks the Ood to return to their quarters as it is "feeding time." The Ood begin to submit to the red-eye and shrink away in pain, which the rep thinks is funny and jokes that she has "upset them", drunkenly telling her to "leave them alone." She tries again, but is horrified to see that it is too late and the Ood have succumb to the "infection." She tries in vain to get the guests to retreat via the fire escape, however the Ood begin killing the reps and she is forced to leave The guards rush over to her and report that all the Ood have "gone insane" and are advancing from the sleeping quarters. She orders them to kill them and runs behind several barrels, watching the soldiers progress in their new task. However just as she turns around she is electrocuted by an Ood, who has appeared from the door beside her.
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Four Episode Eight: "The Unicorn and the Wasp" Played By: Daniel King A footman in the country house of Eddison/ Curbishley family, Davenport had been in the service of the family for an unknown period of time, where he fell in love and began a secret relationship with Roger Curbishley (Lady Clemency Eddison and Colonel Hugh Curbishley's son). "The Unicorn and the Wasp" Davenport was posted on the drinks duty for the Eddison garden party during the December of 1926. During Lady Eddison's explanation of "The Unicorn" and "his" latest theft of a pearl necklace belonging to the Lady Babington, Davenport gave the Doctor a drink (which he had asked Davenport for just before Lady Eddison's introduction) and began to circle the garden in preparation for the other guests. Davenport made Roger his "usual" drink, which the latter flirtatiously comments on the fact that it was just to his liking. Making another of the beverages for his "employer", he express his agreement to Roger's point of view that misbehaving youths- like the ones who had broken into the Reverend Arnold Golightly's parish church- deserved a "decent thrashing." Roger has to remind him with a "subtle" clearing of his throat to get back to his work, as he had giving obvious signs of their relationship that both the Doctor and Donna had picked up. Later that day- at quarter past four- Davenport was sitting under a tree when Roger came to find him. The two hold hands and take a walk together through the ground. Yet this is all covered up by Roger to conceal their relationship. Davenport questions who would kill Professor Peach as he is wiping up in the kitchens- the news of the murder being talked about by the staff- commenting that he always was "asking questions about that book of his." Miss Chandrakala tells him that it was a "dead man's folly" and that it was not important. After chasing the Vespiform down a corridor, the Doctor demands that it reveals itself. Davenport is among the confused people to emerge from the rooms- poking his head out of the same room that Roger was in and looking rather more disheveled than he had been earlier that day. Davenport wheeled Colonel Curbishley's wheelchair into the library, where the Doctor, Donna and Agatha Christie (the guest of honor at the garden party) were planning their next move. He tells Lady Eddison that Chandrakala had been on making her way over to see her when she had been killed (by a gargoyle). With that he goes to stand by Greeves, but keeps looking at Roger as Hugh declares that that their had been no children living in the house for years and would not be much chance of it either- in reference to Chandrakala's last words (alluding to being aware of his son's sexual orientation and his romance with Davenport). Davenport was helping with dinner when the Doctor rushes into the kitchen demanding ginger beer to counter the effect of "sparkling cyanide" that had been used to spike his drink. He is shocked to be grabbed and even more shocked to see the Doctor trying to reverse the effect with various high protein foods. He looks perplexed when the Doctor expels the poison from his body (in gas form). During dinner he is circulating the table on hand to serve when needed. Davenport is startled by the sudden lightning flash that knocks out the lights and blows out the candles. Having hidden from the Vespiform till the lights return, he is distraught at the sight of Roger's body (killed by the Vespiform with a knife in the back and his head down in a bowl of suit). Donna feels sorry for the fact that Davenport is unable to "mourn" for his dead lover due to the attitude of the time.
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Three Episode Three: "The Shakespeare Code" Played By: Sam Marks A young lute player living in 1599 Southwark- London, who was attracted to Lilith (a woman who was actually a Carrionite). He tried to impress her with his lute playing, but was torn apart by Lilith and her two "mothers"; Doomfinger and Bloodtide. "The Shakespeare Code" "This was like a Winter's moon, that lights the traveler's way. Her smile was like a summer bloom, that bursts then fades away. My love is light, my love is day, my love is my world." Wiggins stood under Lilth's window in her house on All Hallow Street, where he serenaded her with his song (the quote above) and his lute playing. While he sings Lilith giggles and shows signs of reciprocating his affection: commenting that his "sweet music shows your blood to be afire" and asks "why wait we on stale custom for consummation," inviting him up inside. He grins delightedly saying that "tonight's the night", letting himself in as Lilith disappears from her balcony to wait for him. Meeting him at the top of the stairs, Lilth asks him whether her is willing to enter, addressing him as "bold sir," which he gladly accepts. However upon entering and seeing the cauldron with other weird items hanging from the room Wiggins is disturbed and slightly scared, questioning how "one so beautiful" can't be where she lives. He apologies but expresses his feelings of disgust at the house, which he refers to as "foul." Lilith puts her finger on his lips, silencing him and telling him that his "sad words suit not upon a lover's tongue." She instigates a kiss, which she pulls away from a few minutes later, her facade lifted and revealing the true Carrionite form. He backs away terrified as she comments that "your kiss transformed me" and that as her "suitor" he should meet her "parents." She summons her two "mothers"- Mother Doomfinger and Mother Bloodtide (one appears behind him, while the other is in the rafters)- which terrifies him even further. All three rush at him and knock him to the ground, beginning to rip him apart as he screamed. As Doomfinger and Bloodtide continue their grotesque mutilation, Lilith declares that "Soon, at the Hour of Woven Words, we shall rise again and this fleeting world will perish." She cackles shortly after his final scream.
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Two Episode Two: "New Earth" Played By: Dona Croll The Cat-Kind head of the Sisters of Plenitude, Matron Casp worked at the New Earth Hospital where she headed up experiments on specially grown humans- which they viewed as just being "Flesh"- in the Intensive Care ward. She died in the year 5,000,000,023 when she was infected by all of the diseases known in the galaxy before plummeting down a lift shaft. "New Earth" Matron Casp joins the Doctor as he spoke with the Duke of Manhattan about the fact that he was cured from Petrifold Regression (which was thought not to have a cure for at least 1000 years later), where she comments that though "primitive species would accuse us of magic" it was due to the "tender application of science." The Doctor questions how she was capable of curing him, but she merely jests about "how on New Earth you might say" and claiming that the solution in the drip near the Duke was a "simple remedy". She denies the Doctor the formula, claiming it to be "patient confidentiality" before introducing herself to him. She remarks coldly that they were the Doctors in the facility after hearing the Doctor's name as a title. Sister Jatt arrives and tells her that she is needed in Intensive Care. The two depart after excusing herself, where Jatt begins to report that one of the "patients" had gained "consciousness." Casp tells her that "we can't have that" as they make their way to the ward. Casp listens as Jatt informs her of the "Flesh's" crying during a "blood wash", showing her the specimen. She looks slightly shocked at the "Flesh" as it begs for their help, commenting that "it's" eyes are "positively sparkling" and wondering how it was possible for it to be able to speak. After Jatt finishes telling her about Sister Corvin's thesis, she tells Jatt that she has seen enough and begins to walk away. The two discuss the review of "brianstem policy" if their is another incident, before telling Jatt to carry out "standard procedure" are "incinerate" the Flesh. Matron Casp and Sister Jatt respond to the alarm- which Cassandra (in Rose's body) sets off- where they run into Novice Hame on the way to fetch her. As she begins to tell her the situation, Matron calmly orders Hame to leave everything to them and return to her duties. Casp asks Cassandra if there was anything that "they could do to help," who skips pleasantries and calls her "whiskers." She demands that the Sisters of Plenitude give her money, but Casp rebuttals by saying that "the Sisterhood is a charity", which gladly accepts money but never gives it away. She refuses to Cassandra's demands for money and a yacht and tells her that there is no reason for her to reconsider the deal. When Cassandra challenges Casp about telling the City and N.N.Y.P.D about the experiments and asking how she was going to stop them the Sisters were not armed, Casp snarls the question "who needs arms when you have claws." She is taken aback by the release of "The Flesh" and is even more amazed that "the Flesh" were capable of speaking and "constructing an argument." As they withdraw her surprise turns to horror as one of "the Flesh" uses kills itself to release the others from their pods. She is unable to save Jatt from being touched, forcing her to flee. As she reaches the exit, Casp uses a phone to contact the main hospital and order the building to be put in a state of "quarantine." Casp had the same idea that the Rose and the Doctor (now Cassandra) had and began to climb a lift shaft to escape the lower levels. Upon seeing them, she angrily grabs Rose's leg and blamed her for the destruction of both the Sister's reputation and the release of "The Flesh." Cassandra snaps that she should "go play with a ball of string." As she declares that the "Human World" is nothing but "sickness," Casp is touched by one of "the Flesh" who infects her with the diseases. She is subjected to extreme agony and releases the ladder, causing her to fall to her death screaming .
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Two Episode Two: "New Earth" Played By: Adjoa Andoh A member of Sister's of Plenitude, the Cat-kind Sister Jatt worked for the New Earth Hospital (just outside the city of New New York) where she was charged with overseeing and monitoring the experiments that the Sister's were carrying out on their "Lab Rats" in the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital (hidden from knowledge and off all records). She was killed by one of her own "experiments" when a member of "The Flesh" touched her and contracted her with all the diseases that the galaxy were aware of by the year 5,000,000,023. "New Earth" Sister Jatt escorted the Doctor to Ward 26 (her veil covering her face at first), while listening to his comments that although the place "looks nice" it needed a "little shop." Removing her veil she remarks that "a hospital is a place for healing." She ignores his continued attempt of conversation about the shop and explains about the Sister of Plenitude's work and aim to heal the sick of New Earth. She watches Frau Clovis berate the Doctor before moving him along to follow her request for the Duke of Manhattan to have "a little privacy." She comments that the Duke will be "back on his feet in no time", which the Doctor sees as unlikely since the illness that the Duke was admitted with (Petrifold Regression) was at that time supposedly incurable and he would be a statue. She tells him to "have faith in the Sisterhood", before asking whether or not he recognised a patient in the ward and commenting that it is unusual for her to get a request about visiting a patient without knowing who the patient is. However the Doctor tells her that he knows who he is looking for after spotting the Face of Boe at the far end of the ward. When the Doctor reaches the Face of Boe, Jatt tells Novie Hame to take care of the Doctor. Before she leaves the Doctor asks her if she can locate Rose at the reception (who had been separated from the Doctor and possessed by the Lady Cassandra O'Brian) which she says she will do. During the Doctor's conversation with Matron Casp at the bedside of the now cured Duke of Manhattan, Sister Jatt appears and tells her that she is needed in the Intensive Care ward. As they walk away she reports to her that another patient has become "conscious", which Casp replies is something that should not be allowed to happen. Inside the Intensive Care Ward Jatt begins explaining to Casp that during a "blood-wash" one of "The Flesh" began crying, opening the pod to survey the "specimen." As "The Flesh" begs for their help, she tells Casp to notice the life in "it's" eyes. Casp asks how the Flesh was capable of "having a vocabulary", to which Jatt replies by noting a thesis written by a fellow Sister- Sister Corven- about "the migration of Sentience," making a side comment that the paper was "well worth a read." Closing the pod on "the Flesh", the two discus reviewing their "brain stem policy" if another incident happens. Questioning what she should do with the latest specimen, Casp orders her to follow the "standard procedure" and incinerate it, which she carries out before following Casp. Sister Jatt and Matron Casp respond to the alarm that Cassandra (in Rose's body) sets of and goes to confront her in the Ward. She listens to Cassandra's blackmail attempt, typing on her communicator but stops when the latter calls it "institutional murder." They watch as the first row of Flesh is woken up, where Jatt suggests that they withdraw before they are infected. They listen as one the Flesh tells them that they have learned about what and how the Sister's had infected them with and commits suicide in order to free the other Flesh from their pods. She expresses terror as she realises that the Flesh are all free and swears that they are free in the name of the Goddess Santori. She is backed into a corner, where she tries to bat them away with her paws. However one of the Flesh touches her face and she is infected almost immediately, dying in agony.
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Two Episode Two: "New Earth" (Mentioned Only) A cat-kind nurse dedicating her life to the Sisters of Plenitude, Sister Corvin worked at the New Earth Hospital outside New New York, where she helped create "The Flesh" in an effort to aid the Sister's mission in curing the sick of New Earth. She wrote a "thesis on the migration of Sentience" she had named "The Echo of Life" after the discovery of several cases of "The Flesh" began to speak and cry. "New Earth" While Sister Jatt is showing Matron Casp the latest case of one of "the Flesh" having consciousness, Jatt replies to the Casp's question of how a forced grown human can have a "vocabulary" by telling her of Corvin's thesis and remarking that it was "well worth a read," before closing the pod and carrying out incineration of the latest "case."
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Four Episode Four: "Planet of the Ood" Played By: Silas Carson The personal Ood of Managing Director Mr. Bartle of Ood Operations, he underwent surgery to have his hind brain removed and had the translation ball stitched on in it's place. In the year 4126 he had contracted Red-Eye and murdered Bartle. He later died from a gunshot wound he had suffered during his escape from the Ood Operations compound. "Planet of the Ood" After calling Halpen an "idiot" for "bleeding us dry" with the decision to lower the price of Ood to 50 credits, Bartle orders Delta-Fifty to bring him the previous months military files with the plan to sell Ood to the army as they "always need new grunts." He returns with the domestic file, which is promptly given back to him with another request for him to get the right file. However Delta- Fifty throws down the file and tells Bartle that the "file is irrelevant." When Bartle retorts the Ood uses his translator ball to electrocute him. During Halpen's viewing of the security footage he questions Dr. Ryder on the fate of the Ood. Ryder replies that Delta-Fifty had been shot during his escape and that the wound would have probably killed him by the time that had elapsed between the incident and the arrival of Halpen. He finally falls into the snow, where his song is heard by the Doctor. The latter and Donna Noble find him lying close to death. After telling Donna to give him a hand and not call the Ood an "it" the Doctor tries to find his heart (although not sure whether the Ood has one) and asks Donna to keep him company and talk to him. He tells Donna his name on her request, who uses the translator orb to speak into (not knowing there was no need to do so) and tries to comfort him with the fact the Doctor can help him. He tries to tell them about "The Circle" and that "the circle must be broken." Just as the Doctor questions what the "circle" is, the red eye takes him again and he bolts upright before dying. Donna asks whether they should bury him, but the Doctor tells her that the snow "will take care of that."
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Four Episode Four: "Planet of the Ood" Played By: Paul Clayton The managing director of Ood Operations on the Ood Sphere, Mr. Bartle was murdered by his personal Ood- Delta- Fifty - after the latter had contracted "red-eye." "Planet of the Ood" Bartle watched an advertisement made by the cooperation, commenting to his boss- Klineman Halpen- over his communicator watch that he liked the directness of the phrase "buy one (Ood) now" and the message that the Ood are nothing more than servants that had been shipped across the stars for human use. However he gets annoyed that the price for an Ood was "50 credits", trying to argue the cutting of the price. But Halpen tells him that this cut was due to a slump in sales and that he should "get going" with sales using the new price. He hangs up and angrily calls Halpen an idiot, claiming that he was "bleeding us dry." Ordering his Ood to get him "last month's military export figures" making a side comment that "the army always needs more grunts" as he takes a seat behind his desk. He is contacted by his Solana Mercurio- head of marketing and galactic liaisons- (who he asked to call him earlier), telling her to "pitch like never before" to compensate for the lower price during a visit from potential Ood buyers, wanting to get rid of the Ood in large numbers/ Delta-Fifty returns with the domestic file and hands it to Bartle, who demands to get the right one. However the Ood throws down the file and tells him that the "file is irrelevant." When Bartle questions why his Ood is suddenly disobeying orders, the Ood uses his translator ball as a weapon and electrocutes him, sarcastically remarking that he has a "nice day." Halpen (who has arrived to see what is happening with the Ood) witnesses the attack on the security footage and learns that after the Ood killed Bartle he fled the complex, but not before getting shot by security.
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Three Episode Four: "Gridlock" One of the main ruling bodies of the planet New Earth, the Senate held council and resided in the New New York over-city. In the year 5,000,000,029 the entire senate along with those in the over-city were exposed to a mutated chemical airborne virus that killed them and most of the planet's population (except those that were in the Under-City and Motor Way). "Gridlock" After being teleported away from the Motor Way by Novice Hame, the Doctor angrily demanded to speak with the Senate about the people trapped in the Motor Way/ However she sadly tells him that they are "inside the senate" and lets sunlight into the room to reveal that all the senate members have been reduced to skeleton and asking the Goddess Santori to "bless them." Hame goes onto explain how the city of New New York had fallen, showing him a used Bliss patch that had been on one of the Senate's dead members and telling him about the virus capable of killing the world in "seven minutes." However just before the Senate did die, they set up a planet wide 100 year long quarantine and warned neighboring planets that it was unsafe to help them.
First Appearance: Doctor Who Series Three Episode Four: "Gridlock" (Mentioned Only) Mutating from a compound within the chemical mood drug known as Bliss, the Bliss Virus became airborne and killed the whole of the world in "seven minutes flat." Due to the prevention of the Senate, Novice Hame and the Face of Boe (despite the Senate's death) the virus was unable to infect anyone else after the initial epidemic and it itself "perished." "Gridlock": During her explanation of what happened twenty four years earlier with the death of New NewYork at the Senate building, Novice Hame shows the Doctor a used Bliss Patch that she had removed from the corpse of a user and tells him about the how the virus had killed New Earth in a matter of minutes. Just before the Senate had succumb to the virus; they sealed off the under-city from the over, leaving the system to be run automatically with the limited power that was left (and eventually had run out) and activating an 100 year quarantine that stopped any neighboring planets from helping them. In the outbreak The Face of Boe used his mist to protect Novice Hame from the virus; leaving them the only two individuals in the over-city. Yet the virus was unable to sustain itself without anymore hosts to infect and it eventually died leaving the planet able to be repopulated once the Doctor opened the roof of the Motor Way and let the residents of the under-city return above ground to the over-head.
